Instrumentation & Controls

Precise instrumentation and reliable controls that give operators confidence in their process data.

Unreliable instruments lead to unreliable operations

Many facilities operate with aging or misapplied instrumentation that produces inaccurate or intermittent readings. When operators can't trust their process data, they revert to manual procedures—increasing labor costs, reducing efficiency, and risking compliance violations.

Instrument failures often cascade into control system issues: false alarms flood operator consoles, automated sequences fail to execute properly, and process upsets go undetected until significant damage has occurred. The root cause is frequently poor instrument selection, improper installation, or lack of systematic calibration programs.

Facilities that defer instrumentation upgrades eventually face compounding costs—emergency replacements at premium pricing, extended downtime for retrofits, and potential regulatory penalties from missed reporting windows.

Right instrument, right application, right installation

We approach every instrumentation project by first understanding the process requirements—what needs to be measured, at what accuracy, in what environment, and for what purpose. Our engineers evaluate the full range of available technologies and select instruments based on long-term reliability and total cost of ownership, not just purchase price.

Our design packages include instrument data sheets, installation details, wiring diagrams, and calibration procedures. We work directly with instrument vendors to ensure compatibility with your existing control systems and specify instruments that are readily serviceable with locally available parts.

During commissioning, we perform wet and dry calibrations, verify 4-20mA and digital signal paths, and confirm that every reading displayed in the SCADA system matches the actual process condition within the specified accuracy.

Instrumentation & Controls FAQ

Common questions about this service.

What types of instruments does Industrial Systems specify?
We work with all major instrument types including electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and Coriolis flow meters; submersible, ultrasonic, and radar level sensors; pressure and differential pressure transmitters; and analytical instruments for pH, turbidity, chlorine, dissolved oxygen, and other parameters.
Can you integrate new instruments with our existing PLC system?
Yes. We regularly integrate new instruments with existing Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Siemens, and other PLC platforms using 4-20mA, HART, Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP protocols.
Do you provide calibration services after installation?
We provide initial commissioning calibrations and can establish ongoing calibration programs with documented procedures and schedules for each instrument in your facility.
How do you handle hazardous area classifications?
Our engineers are experienced in specifying instruments for Class I Division 1 and 2, and Zone 0, 1, and 2 hazardous locations, including proper selection of intrinsic safety barriers, explosion-proof housings, and purge systems.
